With economic uncertainty and rising inflation, you can expect these factors to impact both consumer behavior and the travel industry in 2023. Let’s take a look at the travel trend predictions for the upcoming year.

Priorities

The overarching theme of people who were asked about their travel plans for 2023 is that not many people are planning to scale back. Most people are planning to take the same number of vacations they did in 2022. They plan to save money by choosing destinations where their money goes further. As expected, price- driven travel will be a top priority for most people. Far and wide, consumers are continuing to plan getaways from their daily stresses and day-to-day life. That doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon.

Stretching a Dollar

As mentioned previously, making the dollar stretch further is the main priority for travelers in the upcoming year. An article written for skyscanner.com explains, “USA travelers are also looking to make their money go further in 2023 with rising prices of everyday items impacting our buying decisions. 55% of respondents shared that rising costs will also impact their travel booking decisions, citing choice of destination where currency will go further ie the UK and spend whilst in destination as the top aspects where they’ll look to save. And of those who don’t see it impacting their plans, the resounding reason cited is that they have decided to prioritize vacations next year over other big-ticket items (62%).”

More is More

Another interesting trend you’re going to see in 2023 is that there is a large number of people who are planning to spend more on vacations. Particularly, Americans are looking to spend more money as they travel abroad. It’s easy to assume that given the immense amount of stress people have been under during the last couple years, vacations would become a priority for many. Surprisingly, only 6% of people polled by Skyscanner said they were planning fewer vacations in 2023 than in 2022.

An Open Mind

Because price-driven travel is becoming more of a priority, planning a trip will require more of an open mind. You must now be more willing to compromise on destination and travel dates. This is the easiest and best way to be able to continue to travel within a reasonable budget. If you have money set aside to travel in 2023, start researching the best budget locations. Additionally, consider traveling when it isn’t peak travel season for your destination. This will help you find great deals that can lead to an incredible trip without having to spend a fortune.

2023 Travel Trends

If you thought travel would be slowing down in the upcoming year, think again! It seems that consumers are prioritizing travel now more than ever before. Be it stress, wanderlust, or a need to use up your vacation days, the travel industry will be booming with people looking to get away this next year.
