Packed Suitcase

When going on a trip whether you are flying or driving it’s always best to try to pack light so you don’t have so much to lug around. We know this is easier said than done! The best way to travel is with a standard size carry-on bag. This way if you are flying, you won’t have to worry about your luggage getting lost during your travels because it will be kept safely with you at all times. It’s also the way to go if you are traveling by car because it will take up less space in your vehicle. Here are just a few ways to maximize the space in your suitcase and make sure you can bring all the vacation essentials you will need.

Roll your clothes

When packing your vacation wardrobe, one thing to keep in mind is that you can wear pants more than once whereas tops tend to need a wash after one use. It’s best to fold your bottoms flat and place them at the bottom of the suitcase. Your tops will condense much smaller if you roll them up. Rolling your clothes will allow for more space and prevent wrinkles more than folding them would. You can also roll your underwear in with the clothes to save space.

Put items inside other items

If you are bringing an extra bag of even a fanny pack, you can put some of your smaller items inside those bags to save space and prevent them from getting lost inside your luggage. You can even put things inside your shoes if need be. Remember to use all the available space.

Plastic shopping bags

While on vacation, you are more than likely to need multiple pairs of shoes while you’re away. You don’t want your shoes to dirty up all your clean, nicely packed clothes. What you can do is use those plastic shopping bags you get from grocery shopping and put your shoes in that so your clothes and other items stay protected from the dirt. You can pack a few extra bags too for your wet swimming suit so you don’t travel home with a moldy suitcase full of wet clothes.

Flatten out your belt

There are certain items that we just can’t leave home, a belt is one of them. When packing a belt the most common thought is to roll it up as to save space; but doing this will actually take up more space. If you lay your belt flat around the outside of your suitcase it will take up virtually no space at all, leaving you more room for other essentials.

Once you’ve packed your clothes and other absolutely necessary items you will need for your trip; whatever is left, just stuff in the nooks and crannies. If it doesn’t fit, you don’t need it. It’s also important to try to leave a little extra room in there if you can, just in case you want to bring anything home with you. Now let’s get packing!
