There are many great spots to visit in Mexico, but two that get a lot of attention are Cabo and Cancun. Just because they are located in the same country does not mean they offer all the same things to guests. Each location shines over the other in their ways. Depending on what you are looking to get out of your vacation, one will be better than the other. Here are some highlights of Cancun and Cabo.

Safety

When traveling outside of the country, we should all be thinking about how safe we will be there. Not knowing the language, culture, or the areas can make it difficult for sure to navigate. Cancun was reported to have more theft from pickpockets than Cabo. Cabo is more secluded that Cancun and tourists can fly or come in on a cruise ship. Driving to Cabo is not as safe as the other two options. Tafer reported that both locations had increased their police presence to give guests an increased feeling of safety.

Weather

Escaping to better weather is the goal many have in mind when planning a vacation. Cabo has a similar climate to Southern California. It is cooler and drier than Cancun. A benefit to Cabo is that they average about ten rainy days a year. The chance of having your trip ruined by rain is very slim. Cancun is more humid, being located in the Gulf of Mexico. There is a higher chance of storms and even hurricanes. Cancun still has fantastic weather most of the year, make sure to plan around the rainy season.

Which Vacation Spot Is For You Cancun or Cabo?

Nightlife

Are you looking for a place that you can sleep all day and party all night? Everyone knows that Cancun is the place to be. There are bars on every corner. It is the most sought after spring break location. For this reason, best to stay away during March and April unless you love being in overcrowded places. Cabo, on the other hand, does not cater to the same crowd. While they have a nightlife, Cabo as a whole is slower paced. Cabo is a place to relax and reset.

Activities

Cabo and Cancun both have amazing beaches. Those only looking to hang out at the beach can not go wrong choosing either. Cabo has mountains nearby to allow guests to explore the land by hiking or the ATV trails. The shopping is much better in Cancun. They also have other significant tourist spots like visiting some Mayan building or playing with monkeys at The Jungle Place sanctuary. Both offer excellent water excursions. Try swimming with whale sharks in Cabo, or snorkeling in a giant sinkhole in Cancun.

Decide if you want a laid back retreat in Cabo where you can enjoy the fantastic weather and enjoy exciting excursions. A trip to Cancun is bound to one you will never forget, living the moment and taking advantage of the tourist atmosphere.
